
Cynthia Kaplan
Cynthia Kaplan is a NYC based writer, musician and actress. She is the author of two acclaimed collections of comic essays, Why I’m Like This: True Stories (a Barnes & Noble Discover book) and Leave the Building Quickly. Her work has appeared in many newspapers, magazines, and anthologies, as well as in theaters and on TV and film. Her actual body, too, has appeared in many theaters and on TV and film. She plays regularly at both comedy and music venues with her award-winning band, The Cynthia Kaplan Ordeal, and her comedy rock show, Cindy of Arc, was a finalist for the 2023 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theater. COA has toured regionally to rave reviews and plays regularly in NYC. Time Out NY wrote of her: "If you're lucky, Kaplan will sing and play guitar, and then you'll laugh until you can't breathe."
